ZAP (ZAAP) Hopes to Gain Exposure in the Green Market

With Green Fever sweeping the nation, Zap, and electric car manufacturer is looking to capitalize with its new XEBRA XERO truck.  This truck, dubbed a ‘city-car’ due to its top speed of 40 mph, qualifies as a zero emission vehicle under EPA guidelines.  While not applicable for long distance travel, city fleets could be replaced by this or similar vehicles greatly reducing emissions in smog-prone areas.  Uses could range from traffic police use to sanitation to mail courier vehicles.
The overall market for efficient vehicles is expanding rapidly due to concern on the U.S. dependence on foreign sources of oil and the effect of global warming.  Cities such as Portland, Oregon have already begun implementing plans to turn their city into a green city, effectively lowering their carbon footprint.  While governmental uses for these types of vehicles are wide-ranging, commercial entities would also be wise to take advantage and subscribe to the trend, if only from a marketing standpoint.  Cities statistically have a greater percentage of the environmentally conscious populace.  With this, it can be expected that companies could move to set themselves apart from the competition by turning green.  This could give Zap a greater market in which to offer the company’s line of electric cars by giving the company the option of marketing to companies who want to lower their carbon footprint.
