Founded in 1968, Smith Seckman Reid provides consulting services to more than 500 professionals spanning clients in commercial, sports and entertainment, health, government and education. The company’s international and domestic products range from small renovations to large-scale products exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars.
To strengthen its services, SSR has teamed with XO Communications, a subsidiary of XO Holdings Inc. (OTCBB: XOHO), in which XO will provide a nationwide IP-based networking solution to SSR. Per the agreement, XO will provide its Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based Internet Protocol (IP) Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution to SSR.
“Our existing network wasn’t meeting our bandwidth needs, and with our migration to voice over IP we needed a more scalable solution,” Jeff Swayze, vice president of IT at SSR stated in the press release. “Partnering with XO, a leading provider of managed services, enabled us to focus on our core business. The XO MPLS IP-VPN solution will enable us to provide rapid deployment of services to our employees across our locations nationwide.”
The XO MPLS IP-VPN technology will provide SSR with faster data speeds to support bandwidth-intensive data and design files, prioritize traffic such as IP voice calls and to improve cost-efficiency and flexibility. The XO MPLS IP-VPN will replace SSR’s current legacy frame relay network. This will help SSR maximize cost savings as a central location for all of its applications, data and VoIP traffic for a lower price.
“XO designed a wide area networking solution that provides increased connectivity, improved performance and helps Smith Seckman Reid lower operating costs,” Brian Law, sales vice president for the central region at XO stated. “As more and more companies like Smith Seckman Reid require greater performance from their enterprise networks, XO will continue to provide innovative, cost-effective solutions to support expansion and help them meet their business needs.”
