Wi-TRON Inc., a designer/manufacturer and seller of wireless power amplification equipment, works to offer products to wireless base station and broadband markets. Generally, the company’s products boost low radio frequency and microwave signals for increased distance of use from the base station location while maintaining lineararity and increasing bandwidth strength.
Currently, the market that Wi-Tron serves is controlled by two first tier companies; Andrews Corporation and Powerwave Technologies. There are no second tier companies active in the marketplace. A host of third tier companies, including Wi-TRON Inc., comprise the remaining portion of the marketplace for these types of products. Current customers are forced to sit at the feet of the two leading suppliers and are actively looking for a third tier company to make a move into the upper ranks of suppliers. Their hope is that a third or fourth supplier will lower costs through completion. Wi-Tron Inc. is one of the third tier companies that suppliers are looking very closely at to fill the void with a superior suite of products.
February 12, 2008 found the company announcing a non-binding letter of intent with Cellvine Ltd. to eventually merge the companies. Cellvine, located in Israel, has a compatible suite of products with Wi-TRONs’ product base. An eventual merger between the two could very well be the needed boost that is needed to put the company into second tier consideration by leading customers of its products.
