Shares for WiFi TV (Pinksheets: WTVI) skyrocketed today after the company’s announcement that two new Web sites, iPhoneWi-FiTV.com and Wi-FiforiPhone.com, had been set up specifically for users of Apple’s extremely popular iPhone.According to the press release, these two sites will take new iPhone users “directly to Wi-Fi TV Inc.’s page of live content optimized for the iPhone.”
“To tie in with the launch, a 24/7 multiplex-style movie marathon will be presented, and the live TV stations accessible over the iPhone will present comedy, horror, sci-fi, drama and classic movies as well as new music videos,” the release stated. “Wi-Fi TV will also feature content from such Wi-Fi TV proprietary stations as the Manifest-Station, REI Channel 247 on real estate investments, presidential candidates, and a video on how to join Wi-Fi TV’s Web site for PCs and TVs for free.”
Wi-Fi TV bills itself as a “pioneer of TV on the Internet.” It provided the first online movie in December 1995, and hosts hundreds of online TV stations while allowing users to chat with each other.
In response to the news, share prices jumped from $0.0024 cents a share to $0.0031 cents a share.
