ViewCast Corp. (OTCBB: VCST), a designer, manufacturer and marketer of hardware and software solutions for live video streaming and video-on-demand (VOD) delivery over IP and mobile networks, today announced its Osprey-700e HD video capture card has been named the winner of Streaming Media Magazine’s 2008 Readers’ Choice Award in the Encoding Hardware category.
The company’s product beat out more than 200 different products and services from 150 countries; the votes were cast by Streaming Media readers set to choose the industry’s most innovative streaming solutions.
According to Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen, editor of Streaming Media magazine, ViewCast faced strong competition within the industry; the Osprey-700e HD emerged as an innovative solution addressing the demands of an evolving industry.
“The high level of competition in this program demonstrates how many high-quality solutions are now available to consumers, enterprises, and educational institutions looking for online video solutions,” Schumacher-Rasmussen stated in the press release. “Also, the participation from such a high percentage of our readership shows how committed they are to advancing the industry, which is something we can all celebrate.”
The Osprey-700e HD is the first HD-compatible product ViewCast offers. The technology allows for high-performance video capture and video streaming by owners and content aggregators who need SDI video sources in both HD and SD formats. These features earned the Osprey-700e HD the TV Technology magazine’s STAR Award in 2007, as well as a spot in HD Video Pro magazine’s February 2008 issue.
For Dave Stoner, president and CEO of ViewCast, the award verifies the company’s position in the industry.
“The Osprey-700e HD card’s selection for this prestigious award is further demonstration of ViewCast’s industry leadership in high-quality, innovative streaming solutions,” Stoner stated. “We are very pleased that the readers of Streaming Media magazine continue to recognize and appreciate the quality of our products.”
