ViewCast Corp. (VCST.OB) Moves Forward with Multi-channel Streaming Video Products

Most would agree that the Internet has yet to scratch the surface of its full potential. The technology is simply too young to encompass every possible application or ramification. In many applications already put to use, however, most users don’t even recognize what is involved in making that application possible. The hidden requirements of making Internet applications work is a solid investment for anybody interested in taking advantage of the Internet’s true potential.

ViewCast Corp., a developer, manufacturer and marketer of steaming Internet media technology, works to provide hardware and software for Internet media streaming services. The company develops its media streaming products for broadcasters, media content providers and network solution providers.

The market for Internet video streaming has become so innocuous that users fail to recognize it for what it is; an advanced element of broadcasting that requires advanced components and software. This service can easily be compared to turning on a television and not recognizing the technology associated with getting the televised product to the television. ViewCast has been offering these products and services since 1994 and has established itself as a leading player in the field.

The company’s product line includes: capture cards for acquiring video and audio content, streaming encoding systems for capturing, encoding and compressing video and audio content, and software for capturing/distributing multiple channels of content simultaneously. The company offers its products to a full range of customers but has been having recent sales successes with major broadcasters.

This past summer found the company’s Niagara Pro streaming encoders in use by the BBC for major sporting events around the world. It also found capture cards in use by many other broadcasters seeking to offer streaming video as a regular component of their program content. Although this may appear as a giant leap forward for broadcast media, the company has moved on to the next level of product offerings. Versatility is a large part of the next generation of products, requiring easily mounted track systems for wide use and multiple channels for high resolution. In this vein, the company has been able to take advantage of new markets such as traffic monitoring, governmental security programs and video archiving.

Innocuous as the streaming phenomenon may be, it is here to stay as a silent part of the Internet revolution. ViewCast Corp. was at the forefront of the technology and appears ready to profit by being in the right place at the right time. An investor may not see the company’s products, but they will see the results where they least expect to see them.
