Ionfinity, a subsidiary of VIASPACE, was granted a patent for soft ionization membrane. Ionfinity is working to take mass spectrometry technology to the next level, which could begin a new era of detection systems for the homeland security market.
The Ionfinity system is designed to be rugged, portable, have low power consumption and be extremely cost-effective for use in many different applications.
Dr. Carl Kukkonen, CEO of both VIASPACE and the subsidiary, commented, “With this new soft ionization membrane patent, we are continuing to add to our substantial intellectual property portfolio. Ionfinity is presently focusing on a new system for detection in the homeland security market. This patent is a key element of our strategy to provide a 10x increase in sensitivity in a miniaturized, highly portable, low cost monitoring unit.”
