As VIASPACE Inc. (VSPC) plans to capture a significant share of the projected market for direct methanol fuel cartridges, a two prong business model has evolved.
1) The Company can provide the global fuel cartridge manufacturing, distribution and sales infrastructure, to support the electronics manufacturing Industry.
2) VSPC, from its large direct methanol fuel cell patent portfolio of 56 issued and 62 pending patents, is able to offer patent protection for OEM’s and manufacturers of direct methanol and other liquid hydrocarbon fuel cells.
Most of the large Asian Consumer Electronics manufacturers have invested heavily and have in-house R&D teams working on direct methanol fuel cells and the products using them.
The future of this technology looks very strong. One firm, Hitachi has announced the intention to go into initial production in 2007.
