VIASPACE announced today that its subsidiary has been officially notified by the U.S. Patent Office that patent application No. 11/350693 for Explosive Device Detection Based on Differential Emissivity is under VIASPACE’s ownership.
Dr. Carl Kukkonen, the CEO of both VIASPACE and the subsidiary, stated, “This new patent protects and validates VIASPACE Security’s unique capabilities in using and tracking of large volumes of real-time infrared based sensor data. This capability opens the potential to an entirely new generation of applications in defense and homeland defense surveillance that up until now were considered to be prohibitively expensive and difficult to pursue.”
The company plans to integrate the new patent into SHINE, a licensed real-time inference engine. SHINE currently beats the competition with the potential to deliver over a 100X increase in inference speed over the best comparable commercial product.
VIASPACE is well positioned to receive a significant part of the revenues being produced by the growing homeland security market. Civitas Group LLC expects the market to continue growing steadily with an annual growth rate of 8-10%.
