Universal Detection Technology (OTCBB: UDTT) today announced it has received a positive report from the Wayne State University School of Medicine on the effectiveness of the company’s Silver Anti-Bacterial Product Line. Researchers at the university concluded that the bacterial spray is strong enough to sterilize a surface for up to six weeks, even if the surface is repeatedly exposed to bacteria.
The November 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association reported that the MRSA microbe is responsible for more than 94,000 serious infections, and nearly 19,000 deaths each year. UDTT’s anti-bacterial product line could reduce the spread of MRSA, which is known to spread quickly in schools and healthcare facilities.
“The report shows the immense potential of our Silver Product Line in combating the spread of harmful bacteria such as MRSA,” UDTT CEO Jacques Tizabi stated in the press release.”We plan to market our product to facilities where people gather and where maintaining a sterile environment is an issue such as schools, hospitals, and assisted living centers.”
Universal Detection Technology also develops monitoring technologies, including bioterrorism detection devices, and is in cahoots with NASA to create a bio-terror “smoke” detector. Along with its other development partners, the company has positioned itself to capitalize on solutions related to Homeland Security.
