UFood Restaurant Group (UFFC.OB) Recognized by Restaurant Hospitality Magazine

UFood, a franchisor and operator of casual, fast-food restaurants and retail stores selling nutritional products, was acknowledge by Restaurant Hospitality Magazine as a leader in the field of menu labeling in the restaurant industry. UFood understands that today’s consumers demand the same level of transparency in fast food and nutrition supplements that they currently get in a supermarket.

UFood is lead by franchise innovator George Naddaff, who has a veteran management team with a record of success in the franchise market. UFood is currently launching a growth plan to franchise nationwide.

UFood Grill was highlighted in the March 2008 edition of Restaurant Hospitality Magazine, “A Big Punch for Menu Labeling.” The article explains how New York City health commissioner, Dr. Thomas Frieden, will be forcing chain restaurants in the city to meet the stipulations of a newly mandated menu-labeling rule. Going into effect March 31, 2008, the rule requires chain restaurants having more than 15 units nationwide to make available detailed nutritional information on all menus and menu boards in New York City locations.

The article affirms that restaurants will object, since acting in accordance with this rule may be an expensive and challenging prerequisite for most chains. The article quote’s Margo Wootan, the director of The Center for Science, in the Public Interest’s nutrition policy, “We expect that many more cities, counties and states will require menu labeling once they see how easy it is for these chains to list calories on menus.”
