Shares of Tech Laboratories Inc. (OTCBB: TLBT) were trading up 28 percent at 5 cents per share. The company recently announced the online availability of a PowerPoint presentation made at SJF Ventures’ “Cleantech Companies in Mainstream Markets” by biofuels industry thought-leader and biodiesel advocate Rudi Wiedemann of Biodiesel Solutions.
The PowerPoint presentation indicates that the U.S. consumes 60 billion gallons of petroleum diesel per year with large scale production that utilizes vast imported energy resources. According to the presentation, biodiesel can alleviate some of that demand, but consistent and sufficient feedstock supply, feedstock cost containment, feedstock and biodiesel logistics, high impact of plant down time and competition from feedstock suppliers can be challenging to large-scale producers of biodiesel. The result is a market gap that can be closed with localized production of sustainable, locally-grown biofuels.
“Rudi’s presentation demonstrates the tremendous market opportunity that is available to the BiodieselMaster product, which will be produced by Biodiesel Solutions. Our recent agreement to acquire Biodiesel Solutions creates a compelling business proposition and allows us to quickly enter this market segment,” said John King – CEO of TLBT – in a press release. “Rudi’s contribution to the small-scale biodiesel industry has been enormous and we look forward to working with Rudi and his team to bring another industry-disruptive product to market.”
TLBT also recently signed a letter of intent to acquire Biodiesel Solutions Inc. (BSI). BSI manufactures the BiodieselMaster, a factory-built biodiesel processing plant that is appropriately scaled for a variety of customers, including small communities, farms, farm co-ops and trucking fleets.
Mr. Wiedemann – CEO of Biodiesel Solutions – was a featured panelist and presenter that demonstrated to an audience of investors, economic developers and other cleantech companies that well-conceived cleantech business models can scale rapidly by reducing costs and improving quality for customers.
TLBT, through its subsidiary, Renewal Fuels Inc., engages in the design and manufacture of processing equipment and accessories to convert used and fresh vegetable oil into clean-burning biodiesel.
