There are many options to providing the world’s population the power it needs to work and live. Most of the more immediate options are quickly being commercialized. Others are being refined for their potential use. Still others are available and in use, but not at their true potential. Those that can bring the most beneficial energy options online, at a reusable price, will be those that find exceptionally large profits further down the road.
Thorium Power Ltd., a development-stage nuclear power design company, is currently working with worldwide governments in their search for cleaner/nonproliferating nuclear power options. Currently, the company has signed agreements with the United Arab Emirates totaling approximately $9.2 million, in addition to other consultative projects.
The company’s research indicates that it can help design a nuclear power fuel system that does not allow weaponization of the fuel and reduces issues associated with its post-use storage. From a general perspective, the idea of a nuclear fuel that cannot be made into a weapon and safely stored for a very long period of time, after use, is an attractive option for governments planning long-term energy policy.
The hurdles to initiating a nuclear program, however, are many. Thorium Power Ltd. appears to have several of the answers and is approaching the market from a wise and calculated position. It has already made its name known to many governmental departments around the world and received accolades for its work to date. It has also found positive reviews, from a paying customer, to investigate moving forward. Considering the likelihood that nuclear power will become a global source of energy, at some level, the company is well positioned to take its share of the energy pie.
What part of the pie is the question. Several European and Asian countries have been paying very close attention and appear to be more positive about the company’s ideas then not. Governments do change, but the company is very much in this high-priced game for the long run and looks to be ready for a very nice payday.
