North Carolina passed a law in October 2015 allowing for the regulated cultivation of industrial hemp. Once guidelines for the hemp program are established, landowners will be permitted to produce and harvest cannabis containing less than 0.3% THC - the psychoactive chemical in marijuana that creates a euphoric feeling.
