The Society of Economic Geologists (“SEG”) Student Chapter from the Freiberg’s University of Mining & Technology, one of the world’s oldest and most traditional mining-focused universities, recently carried out an overview of Germany’s Freiberg and the re-emergence of mining exploration within the area. Located within the Saxony region, the town of Freiberg has a long and storied mining history dating back to 1168 AD, when the first silver ore was found in the surrounding areas to the town.
