Superlattice Power Inc. (SLAT.OB) Provides Project Timeline for Results of Joint Venture with Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (HYBR.OB)

Superlattice Power Inc. has been sharing a facility with, and working closely with, Hybrid Technologies (HYBR.OB) for quite some time now. It is a natural partnership between an electric vehicle manufacturer, Hybrid Technologies, and a developer of cutting-edge battery technologies, Superlattice Power. The timeline for the production of Superlattice Power’s products on a mass scale has been laid out by the company into a twelve-month program.

The program begins with the synthesis of the proposed cathode materials needed to create the batteries. The synthesis will be done with a number of variations in heat-treatment temperatures and cathode-material compositions. The results will be prepared and then delivered to subcontractors for characterization and performance evaluation. A non-disclosure agreement is then to be signed by all parties to protect technical information like cathode material preparation, cell assembly, anode materials, separators and all other components associated with lithium ion batteries.

The next few steps in the program are rather technical, but the end results will be the testing and evaluation of cathode materials through analytical and electrochemical techniques. The tests will also reveal ideal temperatures and heat dissipation needed for optimal power production. Once these tests are concluded, Superlattice Power plans on fabricating positive (cathode) electrodes of uniform loading, good mechanical integrity, and optimum electrolyte accessibility.

The final products will then be tested for thermal stability, cell performance and finally, safety. These tests will be conducted at varying temperatures (20 -200 degrees Celsius) at a rigorous level to see if they meet the demanding standards of the automotive industry. Once the program has been completed and evaluated jointly by both companies, Hybrid Technologies should be able to incorporate the resulting technology into their existing products to increase power and efficiency.
