Superlattice Power, Inc. (SLAT.OB) Looks to Partner with Major US Company; Share Prices Spike Over 29%

In order to achieve advanced development of its lithium ion battery technology, which will contain partially lithiated anode and cathode technology, Superlattice Power, Inc. (OTCBB: SLAT) is working towards partnering with a major United States company.

This partnership has the potential to bring an increase in revenue and add new shareholders to the company. As a result of the news, Superlattice was one of many companies pleased to watch their share price jump. The share prices increased from Monday’s close of $0.81 to $1.05, on 36,485 traded shares. The price jump resulted in a 29.63% gain.

In today’s market, fully lithiated cathode materials with unlithiated anode material exhibits huge capacity loss after few preliminary cycles. It has been observed that metallic oxide anodes have the potential of possessing higher capacity when compared to carbonaceous materials. However, current investigations involving metal oxide anodes showed that they suffer from large irreversible capacity loss initially due to formation of solid electrolyte interface (SEI) and irreversible lithium oxide in metallic oxide anode. This requires a strong effort and many processing steps to reduce formation of lithium oxide. The formation of lithium oxide reduces the reversible capacity due to a deficiency of lithium ions present in the anode structure.

Dr. Vishal Mahajan and Dr. Surajit Sengupta are working closely with a major company specialized in lithium technology to better research and plan for the forthcoming advancement. An introduction of partially lithiated anode and cathode in a lithium ion rechargeable battery system will have major advantages compared to commercially available lithium ion batteries, mainly in terms of cycle life and negligible loss of initial capacity loss during those first initial cycles.

Superlattice Power, Inc is an emerging leader in the development and marketing of next-generation lithium-powered batteries worldwide. Their development of Superlattice cathode material for the use in lithium ion rechargeable batteries has been a significant breakthrough within the industry.
