Superlattice Power Inc. (SLAT.OB) Announces Product Development Breakthrough

Superlattice Power Inc. (SLAT.OB), an emerging leader in the development of next generation lithium batteries for rechargeable power systems worldwide, recently announced the successful development of innovative anodes complementary to the high capacity cathodes previously developed with the company’s proprietary namesake “super lattice” structure. This new synthesis process enables high throughput of phase pure cathode material for High Power and High Energy applications.

Superlattice Power’s newly developed anodes are superior to those currently available on the commercial market, which are typically made of silicon, metal oxide, or carbonaceous materials like graphite. These types of anodes are susceptible to passive layer formation on their reactive surfaces, which limits their functional life spans. Additionally, anodes made of these materials are not well suited for large volume industrial production.

This production achievement builds upon Superlattice Power’s portfolio of successes in the laboratory. Superlattice Power has demonstrated a unique capacity to produce nano and submicron materials on a scale large enough to be commercially viable. The hexagonal shape of Superlattice structure, much like honeybee combs in nature, are excellent storage vessels and can accommodate more energy-providing lithium. This Superlattice structure has the potential to make the next generation of lithium-powered batteries lightweight and efficient.
