Cord Partners, subsidiary of Cord Blood America (OTCBB: CBAI), follows its parent company’s mission to become the leading, most respected stem cell preservation company in the world. Utilizing its fully accredited cord blood banking facility in Paramus, New Jersey, the company has successfully retrieved 40 cord blood units for use in future medical treatment.
Each client’s cord blood sample is stored in the laboratory founded in 1954 with cord blood preservation operations since 1996.
It’s more than a simple collection – the FDA requires eights tests to be performed on each mother’s blood and the umbilical cord. The blood samples determine the blood type of the donor; the diagnosis and treatment of hepatic disease, HIV, Hepatitis and heart disease; cholesterol levels; as well as the detection of antibodies and more.
After the testing and collection of cord blood, each sample is stored in Med-Sep Bags (the most advanced bags on the market) and frozen in what is called the “dump technique.” To ensure the safety of every cord blood unit stored, each storage facility is equipped with an electrical power generator with its own battery back-up. The temperatures of each sample are recorded 24-7 and monitored by lab staff every day, every hour of the year.
