Stratos Renewables Corp. (SRNW.OB) Takes Advantage of Rich Sugar Fields in Peru

Brazil reigns as the largest producer of sugar on the planet. As the demand for alternative fuels grows stronger, so does the interest in sugar-based ethanol. In an effort to satisfy demand, Brazil’s sugarcane farmers are stepping up, and are expected to harvest more than 45 million more tons of sugarcane this year than in the past. While global sights are set on the fields of Brazil, one company in the country’s western neighbor, Peru, is hard at work to leave its footprint in the sugar-laden soil.

Since 1997, Peru’s sugar industry has increased its cane output as companies such as Stratos Renewables Corp. (OTCBB: SRNW) seek to satisfy environmentalists concern for a cleaner burning, cheaper fuel alternative.

The company is a developmental stage energy company engaged in the entire process of sugarcane ethanol, from production to distribution. Founded in 2007, and based in Beverly Hills Calif., Stratos operates a sugarcane conversion site along the northern coast of Peru. Here, the company enjoys the temporal and seasonal advantages Peru offers over Brazil, allowing for year-round production of sugarcane.

With the continued demand for ethanol-powered vehicles, all eyes are on Brazil as experts forecast unprecedented production, while the lesser-known, but just as productive Peruvian fields continue to harvest significant amounts of the fuel alternative.
