For quite some time we’ve heard hundreds reasons why we should shift from gasoline to green. Many companies have developed ways to make alternative fuels from corn, sugar cane, hydrogen, tires and more. So with all these options … why are we still pumping gasoline, especially when the price keeps climbing?
According to U.S. News journalist Rick Newman, there are a few reasons we will maintain our gasoline dependency. Though a gallon of gas is getting more expensive, overall gasoline remains a cheaper alternative. It’s kind of like that saying, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” While we may have an environmental issue at hand, some industry experts say the costs to build new infrastructures to support alternative fuels will add up and many of the alternative fuels offer drivers lower mileage than gasoline.
Stratos Renewables (OTCBB: SRNW) however believes its process of producing sugar cane-based ethanol is the new wave of the future. The company maintains that sugar-based ethanol will enable individual companies to achieve “energy self-sufficiency affordably and in an environmentally responsible manner.”
Ethanol from sugar is cheaper to produce than corn-based ethanol, creates more energy, and contains higher starch content than any other plant stock, yielding about three times that of corn.
