Facility Tour

Manufacturing, and Development Facility Tour on April 15th, 2008

To announce and demonstrate to the world that its complete line of products is now ready for market, Hybrid Technologies is opening its doors and inviting its shareholders, the public, and the media alike to tour its facility in Mooresville, North Carolina on Tuesday April 15th, 2008. This will provide a glimpse into the future of lithium-powered technologies at its state-of-the-art development and manufacturing facility. The facility illustrates Hybrid’s technical advancement and achievements in the conversion of standard combustion engines to Lithium-powered applications. Hybrid invites you to view its entire line of two, three, and four wheel vehicles now ready for market products.

New “Superlattice Structure” Lithium Battery Developed

Battery is capable of increasing drive ranges in excess of 200 miles.

Hybrid Technologies announced, in late February, a successful move toward development of a new cathode material which will be incorporated to a Lithium Ion Polymer Battery that significantly increases operating voltage range and energy density. The company’s new Lithium Ion Polymer battery consists of a new cathode material with a “Superlattice Structure” allowing electric vehicles to be driven over 200 miles compared to the current 120 to 140 mile range and operates at a wide voltage range of 4.3V to 2V. The pure material was produced in-house and has been synthesized at an industrial scale.

Ultimate Objectives of Next Generation Lithium Ion Battery

Several researchers are modeling new cathode materials with “Superlattice Structure”, a structure where part of transition metal is substituted by lithium and the desired properties must include:

* Less or zero exothermic reaction and safe.
* Wide voltage range from 4.4V to 2V (High voltage is limited to electrolyte).
* High Capacity 170 Ah/kg or more.
* Non toxic and disposable.
* Less expensive.

Projection of Hybrid Technologies Battery Research and Developments: Seldom have newly invented materials been tested in large scale production with most only being tested in limited small laboratory scale failing to implement the desired properties in large proportion production. Hybrid Technologies will synthesize all potential material in industrial levels and use it in high degree battery production. The company’s philosophy is to bring potential battery materials from laboratory scale to industrial scale.

Hybrid Technologies has started in house production of all “Superlattice Structure” in a higher density and optimizing the process parameters suitable for large batteries which will be used not only in electric vehicles but also in the field of “Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)”.
Quote from Dr. Surajit Sengupta, Director, Battery R&D

Hybrid Technologies Inc. has taken an emphatic move towards development and large scale production of in house new series of cathode materials. Our objective is to create environmentally non-toxic, safe, less expensive and more powerful lithium ion polymer batteries. The result is simple more mileage and less expensive batteries with high quality.

Our target material using an art of manufacturing will increase operating voltage range and energy density significantly. A target energy density increase by 50% is expected by the end of this year. The material is composed of submicron sized crystals attached together and will enhance fast lithium ion diffusion during charge and discharge. We are trying to achieve a target capacity of 240 Ah/kg, concentrating on cell design parameters to minimize impedance.

This new material will allow us to drive an electric vehicle over 200 miles compared to 120-140 miles range at present.

Price Reductions Announced

In mid-February, Hybrid Technologies announced substantial price reductions on the Smart Car, Mini Cooper, PT Cruiser and their all new Y-120 due to a 30% cut in cost of lithium batteries. In contrast to the continual increase in gas prices, the reduction in lithium battery costs allow Hybrid to pass savings along to their customers.

New, reduced prices for Hybrid Technologies’ 2008 models include the Mini Cooper at $57,500 for a $7,500 savings, the Smart Car at $43,500 for a $1,500 savings, the PT Cruiser at $55,000 for a savings of $10,000. Hybrid’s new Y-120 will have an introductory price of $39,500.

Why Electric?

In an all-electric car, high energy density and light weight rechargeable lithium ion batteries are used. The batteries can be charged simply by using household electricity outlets which are discharged to power electric motors with zero emissions.

Electric cars are very reliable and maintenance free. There is no need of oil changes and filter change and tuning. Electric Vehicles have fewer than 1/10th as many parts as a gas car. There’s no engine, transmission, spark plugs, valves, fuel tank, tailpipe, distributor, starter, clutch, muffler or catalytic converter.

The best way to reduce carbon emissions is to utilize the ever cleaner, greener, more renewable grid to power transportation. Only grid-rechargeable cars can attain the end goal of zero-emissions and ensure fuel price stability.

Plugin Vehicle Facts

Battery Electric Vehicles (EVs) are by far the most efficient vehicles in the world.

According to the Department of Energy, enough excess generating capacity exists at night in the U.S. to charge 180 million EVs without adding any new capacity.

* All of our electricity is domestic except for a small percentage from Canada.
* Most people worldwide waste more electricity in their homes than they would use to drive their cars.
* We will never fight a war over electricity.
* Driving on electricity from the U.S. grid is far cleaner than driving on oil.
* A survey of EV owners found that 48% of them used solar energy to power their houses and cars.
* EVs by the millions could be built today.
* Plug-in cars capable of 50 miles per day would meet the needs of 80% of the American driving public. Source: U.S. Department of Transportation.
