Green Tea King of Energy Drink is one of the first green tea energy drinks on the market and was introduced in 2006. This drink capitalizes on the healthy aspects associated with green tea and the appeal of an energy drink.

There’s no doubt that tea drinking is on a roll in the United States. There are about 2,000 tea houses nationwide, up from 200 just 10 years ago. And tea sales reached $6.2 billion in 2005, more than quadruple their level in the early 1990s, according to the Tea Association of the USA, New York. One big reason: Recent research shows that tea, particularly green and white tea, is loaded with antioxidants that can help ward off ailments such as heart disease and cancer.

The Green Tea King of Energy Drink revenues contributed to company sales in July, exceeding revenues for the previous six months combined. The Green Tea King is one of the first green tea energy drinks on the market. The company is currently developing a marketing program in which the new drink will be one of the flagship flavors of the company’s line. The company’s research, while developing the green tea formula, showed that green tea and green tea extracts contain powerful antioxidants, which can have positive effects on a variety of health conditions in a natural way.

The company reviewed numerous studies which have drawn links to the benefits of green tea and green tea extracts when it comes to everyday issues such as: weight loss, diet, cholesterol, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, cancers and blood sugar. In addition, research has found that a combination of caffeine and green tea extract burns more calories than caffeine alone. Edon Moyal, CEO, said, “We believe that we are on the cutting edge by being one of the first companies to produce and distribute a Green Tea Energy Drink which includes health positive ingredients, combined with the boost that consumers of energy drinks have come to expect from their beverage.” Bob Adams, vice president of business development for Straub Distributing (http://www.stockguru.com/blog/www.straubdistributing.com), said, “The Green Tea energy drink is a beverage well suited for the work and office environment, and can be used to combat the mid- afternoon slump. It’s a great on-premise beverage for restaurants and other establishments for lunchtime promotions.”

In May, scientists at Yale’s medical school said green tea might explain why Asians have lower rates of heart disease and lung cancer than Americans, even though they smoke more. Calling the phenomenon the “Asian Paradox,” the scientists wrote in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons that antioxidants in green tea could stymie disease-causing cells.

Additional new flavors are in the development stage and will follow the trend of flavored energy drinks.
