Gordon Lee, CEO of Smart SMS Corp., spoke with Stock Guru on Saturday. He explained that Smart SMS Corp. had over thirty active agreements for various kinds of messsaging campaigns and noted that at a minimum Smart SMS would receive at least twenty-five percent profit from each of these agreements. This is a low overhead business with low expenses. The backend that handles the text messaging takes a percentage and the celebrity takes a percentage — the rest is pure profit.
How Revenue Distribution Works:
Smart SMS Corp. has a distribution system which guarantees a revenue stream. At a minimum they obtain twenty-four percent of the campaign’s revenue.
Smart SMS Corp. custom builds a unique text messaging campaign to suit a customer’s marketing needs. When a consumer sends a text they are billed .99 cents to their cell phone bill. If the consumer signs up for multiple updates they are charged .99 cents each. These typically occur in fan club situations .50 cents of .99 cents goes to the phone company’s .24 cents goes to Smart SMS and .24 cents goes to the client.
Smart SMS pays the client after the phone companies pay Smart. The first payment from the text messaging campaign would appear in about 60 days and every 30 days after that for the rest of the campaign.
This text messaging campaign complies with all federal and local government regulations including the FCC.
Consulting Fee — Covering the Cost of the Campaign Crucial:
For marginal companies Smart SMS has an upfront “consulting fee.” The consulting fee is charged to cover the costs of the text messaging campaign. The consulting fee goes fully to Smart SMS. This fee typically runs from $5,000.00 to $20,000.00.
The size of the fee is based upon the response anticipated from the campaign. For a major television program or a major clothing manufacturer there would be no fee. For a regional band or one not very well known a higher end fee would be charged. If Smart SMS does not believe there will be a significant response in some instances they will simply pass on the campaign. Profitability is foremost in Smart SMS’ mind when they craft a text messaging campaign.
