Lantis – StockGuru Profile Lantis – OTC: LSSR.PK
Lantis Laser Inc. has the exclusive right to commercialize the application of OCT in the dental field, under its license Agreements with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and LightLab Imaging. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an example of a “state of the art” optoelectronics with a real-world applications. OCT utilizes photonics and fiber optics and therefore does not emit any harmful radiation.
OCT is a product of research in the area of physics. OCT is used in medical imaging equipment to see and understand the human body in order to better diagnose and treat diseases. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a medical imaging technology for non-invasive, high-resolution cross-sectional imaging used in many medical fields.
OCT serves as an optical biopsy, enabling tissue pathology to be imaged in suit and in real time. This technology provides a means for nondestructive evaluation of materials supported by optical data storage. OCT integrates a wide range of disciplines including fiber optics, interferometry, high speed optical detection, biomedical imaging, in vitro and in vivo studies, and clinical medicine.
There has been a dramatical increase in the imaging rate of OCT since its introduction.
Worldwide OCT Applications
OCT has become the prominent biomedical tissue imaging technique.
Ophthalmology is, due to the transparent ocular structures, still the main field of OCT application. The first commercial instrument too has been introduced for ophthalmic diagnostics (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG). Cardiology and dermatology employ OCT.
Even museums are using OCT directly on paintings to examine the cross-section of paint and varnish layers without contact or the need to take samples from anywhere on a painting. This allows them to evaluate the need and extent of restoration. Optical coherence tomography is a powerful non-invasive technique for probing into the depth of paintings, providing 3D infrared image cubes that can not only show the structure of the paint and varnish layers, but also reveal the underdrawings and their depth positions. This method allows cross-section examination over the entire painting. We are now extending our studies to quantitative measurements of the refractive index of varnish layers as well as studying the drying process of varnish.
Optical in vivo biopsy is a rapidly advancing field of OCT application. High resolution, high penetration depth, and its potential for functional imaging attribute to OCT an optical biopsy quality, which can be used to assess tissue and cell function and morphology in situ. OCT can already clarify the relevant architectural tissue morphology.
For many diseases, however, including cancer in its early stages, higher resolution is necessary. New broad-bandwidth light sources, like photonic crystal fibres and superfluorescent fibre sources, and new contrasting techniques, give access to new sample properties and unmatched sensitivity and resolution.
OCT Technology is highly regarded and being applied in many fields. Lantis Laser has the exclusive right to commercialize the application of OCT in the dental field.
