StockGuru Blog: Hybrid Technologies (HYBR) – Technology Cuts Gas Use

Hybrid Technologies, Inc. is an emerging leader in the development and marketing of lithium-powered vehicles and products, including commercial and residential facilities and properties worldwide. HYBR holds licensing agreements for development of four-, three-, and two-wheeled vehicles and lithium/solar power system technology for residential and commercial properties. Everything from scooters, bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, cars and homes are being converted successfully to zero-emission, lithium-powered vehicles and facilities. The Company also offers telecommunications to business and residential customers utilizing voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) technology Through its subsidiary, Zingo, Inc. It concentrates on the provision of these services in Canada, Central and Latin America, Europe, and various other countries in Asia. The Company was founded in 2000 and was formerly known as Whistler Investments, Inc. It changed its name to Hybrid Technologies, Inc. in 2005. Hybrid Technologies is based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Tomorrow’s Fuel Efficiency Today

By using its proprietary advanced lithium management and battery balancing system, HYBR converts gas-emission vehicles to electric power and is now marketing lithium battery powered Chrysler PT Cruisers, Mini Coopers, Chrysler Crossfires, and Mercedes’ Smart Cars.

Hybrid vehicles, or HEVs (hybrid electric vehicles), are powered by rechargeable battery packs within the engine, allowing the engine to act like a motor as well as an electric generator. The major benefit over classic internal combustion engines is the fuel efficiency produced by hybrid engines. This technology is more environmentally friendly and is paving the road to greener transportation. As more and more people are becoming environmentally aware, hybrid cars or hybrids as they are known are making their mark in the auto market place. As of mid-2007, HYBR was the only innovative company selling consumer ready electric-powered vehicles from its website (www.hybridtechnologies.com). Market trends demonstrate that sales are rising and the demand for hybrid cars and SUVs is getting stronger.

At its Research & Development facility, March 3, 2008, in Moooresville, North Carolina, HYBR displayed its newest line of lithium powered vehicles to local news affiliate CBS-WBTV. Featured in the CBS-WBTV “Car of the Future” Segment, the CBS show producers and crew obtained the first film footage of HYBR new, fast and agile LiV™ REAPER military vehicle now in final development. The aggressive vehicle was created as a result of a request by US armed forces. The leading edge technology vehicle, along with other new LiV™ Series vehicles, was exhibited at the New York International Auto Show, March 22-30, 2008 amid chords of approval and praise.

As one of the country’s foremost leading alternative fuel vehicle corporations, HYBR demonstrated its specialized ability to take popular vehicles and transform them into lithium fueled, eco-friendly machines, all developed at the North Carolina facility. CBS was told that to the company’s understanding, HYBR is the only company today capable of delivering all-electric vehicles that feature significant technological advancements with their proprietary battery management systems.

In November, 2007, HYBR reached agreement with Sam’s Club, offering its fully electric Smart Car to Sam’s Club members. The European modeled zero-emission vehicle represented the latest in advanced lithium technology, and featured cutting-edge technology from NASA, while being cool enough for A-list celebrities, including George Clooney. People Weekly has featured stories on Hybrid and the popular actor George Clooney’s relationship several times since their contract was formalized. The delivery of the vehicle is part of a new European product launch initiative launching this year. The national space center contributed space-based intelligence for the car’s advanced battery system. The STS-118 Smart Car is introduced as the perfect addition for car collectors or environmentalists wanting to make a difference by driving a zero-emissions vehicle.

It’s In The Battery

HYBR is involved in researching and developing the portable lithium battery power pack technology to model different cathode structures and optimize process parameters to obtain a single phase and pure material in industrial scale. In February it made an important announcement on a successful move toward development of a new cathode material that will be incorporated to a Lithium Ion Polymer Battery. The company’s new Lithium Ion Polymer battery consists of a new cathode material with a “Superlattice Structure”, significantly increases operating voltage range and energy density, while allowing electric vehicles to be driven over 200 miles compared to the current 120 to 140 mile range. The pure material was produced in-house and has been synthesized at an industrial scale.
Features of the “Superlattice Structure” include:

* Less or zero exothermic reaction and safe.
* Wide voltage range from 4.4V to 2V.
* High Capacity 170 Ah/kg or more.
* Nontoxic and disposable.
* Less expensive.

HYBR produces in-house the “Superlattice Structure” in a higher density and is optimizing the process parameters suitable for large batteries which will be used not only in electric vehicles but also in the development of the “Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)”.

The company’s advanced battery technology offers some of the industry’s fastest charger systems. The high density and lightweight lithium-ion batteries can be charged by simply plugging them into a common household electrical outlet.

$2.20 for 100 Miles

HYBR has signed contracts with NASA, the Canadian Ministry of Transportation, the City of New York, the US Navy, and Paratransit, a New York transportation company, among others.

The Company featured its 2007 all-lithium Mini Cooper at the 2007 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The Mini Cooper has been highlighted in Forbes and the Wall Street Journal. It’s powered by a 100% electric drive system that uses advanced lithium-ion battery units and a superior BMS (brake management system). The all-electric car has also been used by NASA as part of an ongoing relationship with Hybrid and the Federal Space Agency. The Mini Cooper can reach speeds of over 80mph on a range of about 120 miles on a 5-hour charge. The company’s All-Lithium Cooper Mini can reach up to 200 miles on a single charge with recharges only taking six to eight hours. Since these vehicles run by solely by electricity, the vehicles are exceedingly quiet with no engine hum or vibration. The Hybrid-produced Mini Cooper has already gained massive international media attention from outlets such as CNN, Forbes, Popular Mechanics, and Wired magazine; as well as broadcast coverage throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Marketing Trend forecasters feel that this will be the new “it” car among the Hollywood in-crowd who are by no means strangers to Hybrid’s lithium-powered vehicle developments.

In September, 2007, the company contracted its advanced lithium PT Cruiser model to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The vehicle was selected because of its zero-emissions, high capacity, rapid charge time and overall functionality for the EPA’s Near-Road Air Quality Study. The EPA’s Office of Research & Development (ORD) will use the PT Cruiser to study air pollutant concentrations alongside major roadways, which could be a health concern to people living and working nearby. The zero-emissions vehicle enables EPA’s research because mobile air quality measurements can be conducted without fear of “self pollution” as with all mobile sampling platforms powered by internal combustion engines.

Outer Space Marketable Research

The all terrain vehicle ATV-LX, utilized by NASA, was placed into Federal Service during a training mission by the agency. The high-speed, zero emission unit is now entering the consumer market as well. HYBR is actively choosing suitable retail partners to launch the ATV-LX in the U.S. The ATV-LX’s design was based on previous military units developed for tactical applications with a long range, high torque system to outperform similar units. The Space Agency and the U.S. Navy applications of the vehicle are used in highly visible situations. Vehicles selected by NASA for use in the NASA KSC fleet have included the Hybrid PT Cruiser, Lithium Smart Car, and a high performance lithium all terrain vehicle as part of HYBR’s military line.

Last year, the Government of Canada launched the new “ecoTECHNOLOGY for Vehicles Program”. The program will thoroughly test an array of light-duty vehicles, and then publish their safety and environmental performances. This will not only expand Hybrid’s brand recognition, but also provide Canadians with valuable information on Hybrid’s vehicles. The program could lead to new partnerships with the automobile industry and break barriers to the introduction of environmental technologies in Canada. The vehicles purchased by the Ministry of Transportation’s Advanced Technology Vehicles Program will be evaluated for fuel efficiency, emissions, and safety performance; in addition to identifying the marketing potential of the advanced vehicles. The collected information will then be used to break barriers hindering the use of the advanced transportation technology.

Hybrid has partnered with ALITALIA for shipment to ITALY and is actively selecting other partnerships to distribute its PT cruiser, Mini Cooper and Smart car models.

“Lean, Mean, Green Machine”

The all-lithium vehicles from HYBR.are quickly gaining Auto Industry and consumer notice. The company is pleased with its feature episode in the award winning History Channel series Modern Marvels showing some of its models. The Hybrid produced Mini Cooper has already gained massive international media attention from outlets such as CNN, Forbes, Popular Mechanics, and Wired magazine; as well as broadcast coverage throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Making a bold and memorable impact at the 2007 New York International Auto Show was the highly publicized and breakthrough vehicle, the NYC all-lithium Taxi.

HYBR’s all-lithium taxi project was mentioned as part of the President’s comments on advanced technology corporations in his State of the Economy speech last year. He stated, “Imagine what these technologies will mean for somebody living in New York… Hybrid electric taxi cabs will be running on new generation lithium ion batteries. The financial pages will be filled with new stock symbols for dynamic American companies in the growing field of alternative fuels.” The company is honored to have their name stated in the President’s speech. The New York City Taxi and the Paratransit Taxi have received a large amount of attention from the media, and considerable political attention as well.

Hybrid offers a broad zero-emission product line that includes: the Daimler/Chrysler PT Cruiser and Crossfire, BMW Mini Cooper, Mercedes Smart Car, Bicycles, Geely Motorcycle, Lawn and Garden Equipment, ATVs and the E-Cobra.

Hybrid is leading in the development and marketing of lithium-powered products worldwide. With its proven technology, The Company is now poised to setup a Dealer/Distributor network in North America and license its’ technology to other automotive manufacturers.
