HealthSonix provides a solution to a modern day quest to residents of Mexico: living and working free from pain. HealthSonix has now provided a home solution that will be available in Mexico.

HealthSonix announced that it has signed a letter of intent for distribution rights for Mexico for its enSonix@home medical device. The agreement is with InfoMedica S.A. of Monterey, Mexico for the exclusive marketing and distribution rights. The initial product deliveries will take place in the first quarter of 2007.

“The incidence of arthritis in Mexico is deemed to be the same as that in the rest of the world: at least 30% of the adult population. We are pleased by the amount of interest shown in our products by the international community,” stated Dieter Doederlein, Vice President of Corporate Development. “It’s an effective, affordable solution for patients suffering with the pain of arthritis.” The agreement calls for a minimum of 50,000 enSonix@home units to be sold in the first year of the agreement. This agreement alone represents $4.5 Million in new enSonix@home equipment sales.

The enSonix@home medical device will be available for shipments in the first quarter of 2007. HealthSonix recently registered and cleared the enSonix@home device with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the product to be able to be sold in the US market. The enSonix@home is designated as a class one device, the safest classification for medical devices. The product has been indicated for pain reduction and muscle relaxation.

Research indicates that Latinas will be receptive to this product. Arthritis is the leading cause of activity restriction among women. Recent study found that women looked at their children as products of their own resilience in adapting to arthritis. Latina respondents to study upon reflecting on their arthritis and life circumstances take great pride in reporting that despite living with the pain and limitations of arthritis and other stressors their children were happy, drug-free, and had graduated from, or still attended school. These women were not passive, but strived to fulfill roles despite their illness. These women were characterized as active in seeking solutions to their arithritis. The high cultural value placed on both traditional and nontraditional roles among Latinas encouraged them to find solutions to address their illness.

enSonix@home will retail for $150 and will initially be marketed directly to consumers through direct response infomercials and direct to consumer advertising through AARP and Arthritis Today consumer publications.

The sound pressure waves generated by the enSonix@home medical device are believed to work in three ways: they stimulate mechanoreceptors in the skin, which in turn communicate with the brain and block pain messages from getting through (gate control theory of pain); they create an exercise effect in the muscles, which encourages the production and release of endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers; and they increase blood circulation.

Stay tuned for more on this company that provides relief to an achy body!
