Diamonds in the ground in North America are not new but having a diamond mine in Montana, the United States, provides a great advantage in terms of cost. Canada is currently ranked as the world’s third-largest diamond producer, after Botswana and Russia.
Essential supplies must be flown to the Canadian mines site at significant costs. The three diamond mines currently operating are in northern Canada and mining in northern Canada is an expensive proposition.
Northern Canadian mines’ only ground link to the outside world is a seasonal ice road that operates in the winter months over the frozen barrenlands. A warmer-than-average winter this past season meant the road was in operation for only 17 days, rather than the usual 40 or 50.
Being located in Montana provides Delta Mining and Exploration a significant advantage. Access will not be limited in Montana as it is in Northern Canada. Further, b eing located in North America is ALWAYS and advantage. It is virtually certain that these mines will NEVER be nationalized as mines have been at times in other countries.
Delta Mining and Exploration received a report on the samples processed from their Montana target. The micro-probe analysis to determine kimberlite provenance and/or specific mineral chemistry was positive. Link here for report.
