Deep Blue Marine – Sonar Enhances Evaluation
DPBM – Deep Blue Marine – Stock Guru Profile
Deep Blue Marine Inc. has announced that the company will conduct a deep ground penetrating sonar search of the Kirby site in an effort to isolate individual anomalies which may be under the worm crust associated with that site. The company will use the expertise of Jonathon Bronson, an experienced sonar tech, for this project.
Underwater sonar surveying allows a view of the ocean’s secrets with a clarity that had not previously existed. Deep Blue Marine can survey shipwrecks quicker and more accurately, even when visibility underwater is very poor. The cargo-laden vessel that suffered ill-fated trips and landed in the fifteen square mile area Deep Blue Marine are often obscured by poor visibility.
The solution to a visibility problem is to measure by sound. Enter: a sonar system managed by Jonathon Bronson which surveys a wreck with sonar transponders to measure distances – and pressure sensors to measure depth. Accurate measurements can be produced very rapidly compared with using tape measures and the like which is the traditional way of doing it. The multiple sonar transponders deliver definition accuracy.
The diver then simply positions a probe at points along the wreck. Short bursts of ultrasound are sent from the probe to each transponder in turn. The time taken for the sound wave to bounce back from each transponder is a direct measure of the distance and the whole job has been completed in just a couple of hours. Then, it’s time to analyze the data for the moment of truth.
After the data is transferred from the logger to the computer, evaluations begin. Accuracy from sonar evaluations is phenomenal and the project data enhances DPBM’s understanding of the treasures below. Deep Blue Marine will have the ability to bring to life the precise details of a ship that once plied is way across the tumultuous Carribean!
Wilf Blum, President of Deep Blue Marine Inc., had this to say, “The purpose for this survey is to give us a more refined image of what we are seeing under this crust. Rather than just try to remove the whole crust, it is our goal to be able to use the sonar applications to pinpoint the strongest hits. Las year we found an area that returned a very strong signal for non-ferrous metals in the Woman Key site also. We want to search both sites with this sonar package in an effort to substantiate from the surface, what we think we are seeing under the water. This application has the potential to save us thousands of dollars in search time and put us right on top of the target; only time will tell.”
