Assured Pharmacy Fills a Huge Pharmacy Void

Assured Pharmacy, Inc. (OTCBB: APHY)

Most Pharmacies choose not to service chronic pain patients because: pharmacists bear personal liability; chronic pain medications are targeted for theft; intense scrutiny by DEA of recordkeeping and audit trail; and the pain customer is largely deemed undesirable.

This left a void for patients in need of pain medication. APHY is a pain medication pharmacy, stepping in to fill this void. Pain medication drugs are extremely desirable on the street.

Oxycontin is becoming more valuable than money.

Pharmacists install bullet-proof glass to guard it, one addict tried to sell her son for it, now Lindsay Lohan’s father claims she is the latest star in the grip of Oxycontin.

The deadly drug is one-and-a-half times more powerful than morphine and has claimed hundreds of lives.

Model Samantha Jenkinson, 18, died from using the drug after taking seven tablets at a party in Hull five years ago. It is claimed Hollywood stars who have battled the drug’s grip include Michael Jackson, actress Winona Ryder, singer Courtney Love and Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s kids Kelly and Jack.

The drug’s real name is oxycodone and it is often prescribed as a painkiller under the brand name OxyContin. It was dubbed “hillbilly heroin” after an epidemic of abuse swept through isolated towns in America’s Appalachian Mountains. Oxycodone was first synthesized from opium poppies in Germany in 1916 as a replacement for heroin, the addictive properties of which were becoming widely known at the time.

Pharmacists reported robberies in which armed men angrily REFUSED money and were only interested in taking away bottles of OxyContin. Raids became so frequent that some pharmacies have now installed bullet-proof glass and steel vaults. Mum Brianna Burns, 23, was arrested in Craigsville, West Virginia after police tape-recorded her trying to SELL her two-year-old son for Pounds 300 to buy OxyContin.

The drug has even been popularized in modern culture. Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in Martin Scorsese’s crime film The Departed downs a handful of pills marked OxyContin.

Sample news reports follow:

“A man …left behind $11,000 and prescription drugs police now suspect were stolen during a rash of pharmacy break-ins … Police seized OxyContin, oxycodone, Ritalin, morphine, methadone, codeine … On the street, the drugs are worth at least $200,000”

“A burglar broke into a Lake Forest medical center over the weekend, stealing an estimated $10,000 worth of pharmaceutical narcotics, including 40 bottles of OxyContin … The street value of these kinds of narcotics is much, much higher than the estimate here”

“… Columbus experienced three times as many pharmacy robberies in 2006 because of OxyContin and other narcotics … Some pharmacies won’t carry OxyContin because it’s a prescription for crime”

“The estate of a … man who died from overdosing on OxyContin stolen from a pharmacy … filed suit against pharmacist Michael J. Cleary and his pharmacy … suit claims the pharmacist did not properly safeguard narcotic medicines … Stalcup died in February after overdosing on OxyContin provided to him by his girlfriend … who worked as an assistant at the pharmacy and … was charged in criminal court with theft and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance”

APHY DOES NOT compete with Wal-Mart! This company fills a void in patient and physician pharmacy needs! Their success is reflected in expanding sales!
