Utah Uranium Corporation (OTCBB: UTUC) in Utah is focused on the acquisition of past producing underground uranium mines that can be brought back into production in the near term with a low capital expenditure. Their mines currently in their acquisition pipeline are within economic haul distances of the White Mesa Uranium Vanadium Mill in Utah which is currently the only operating Uranium mill in the United States.

I am convinced that nuclear power is inevitable and the real growth story in energy worldwide. It has been thirty years since a U.S. nuclear reactor was ordered and more than a decade since the last plant opened.

What I am seeing – Federal regulators received four license applications for seven new nuclear power units in 2007 and expect to receive another 15 applications for 22 units this year.

Several factors are driving the renewed interest in nuclear energy.

Operations, maintenance and fuel costs for nuclear plants have dropped about 30 percent since 1995, according to the Nuclear Energy Institute. At the same time, the cost of operating a coal-fired plant has remained relatively flat, while natural-gas prices have surged.

It is a a matter of economics: nuclear is starting to become a little bit cheaper than coal.

The carbon dioxide emissions from coal burning plants is a main cause of global warming. Utilities are facing the threat of a tax on carbon emissions. Unlike coal and natural-gas plants, nuclear plants emit little, if any, greenhouse gas.

I am going to be bringing you more on this company and this industry … including the insider political machinations where uranium and nuclear power are concerned and what ALL the presidential candidates are saying about going nuclear. NO ONE wants this to be a huge public discussion before the election but if you dig and follow these things … you realize this is something we are going to hear a great deal about AFTER the election.
