Speedemissions Inc. (SPMI.OB) Plans to Become the Leading Vehicle Emissions Testing Company

There are some states in the US where motor vehicles are the largest source of air pollution. In these areas, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has mandated that selected major urban areas must meet certain clean air standards by conducting vehicle emission tests. The major metropolitan areas of the thirty-four states affected by the EPA mandated emission testing law represents about 50% of the U.S. population. In 2003, approximately 87 million emission tests were conducted, resulting in estimated annualized revenue of over $2.2 billion dollars. For residents in these states who must have their cars approved, they will have to look to testing stations like Speedemissions, Inc.

Speedemissions, Inc. provides vehicles emissions testing and safety inspection services in the United States. The company operates emissions testing and safety inspection centers which offer On-Board Diagnostic’ tests, as well as a range of safety inspections to new and used cars; fleets of the federal, state, and local governments; and fleets of corporate customers.

Speedemissions is the largest company in Houston that specializes only in emission testing & safety inspections. They currently own and operate 35 vehicle emission/safety inspection testing stations, 15 in Atlanta, GA and 12 in Houston, TX and 8 in Salt Lake. They also operated 4 mobile units in the Atlanta, Georgia area. The company was founded in 2001 and is based in Tyrone, Georgia.

Speedemissions Inc. is led by a strong management team that possesses a tremendous amount of talent and experience including Mr. Rich Parlontieri, President & CEO, who will be interviewed about America’s vehicle emission testing problems and challenges Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 7am EST on WFAN Radio in New York City, EVP Randy M. Dickerson and Chief Operations Officer, Michael Shanahan.

The company plans to become the leading vehicle emissions testing company in the industry. But even though emission testing is required by federal law, it is only required in certain states, so there are no companies operating vehicle emission testing/safety inspections on a national basis therefore Speedemissions will have to compete on a local level with competitors. Another factor facing the company is the low cost of the test which varies from state to state and can range from $15-$25 depending on the year of the car.
