Speedemissions, Inc. (SPMI.OB) Continues Expansion to 41 Locations

Speedemissions, Inc., a leading vehicle emissions testing and safety inspections company, announced that it has continued growing and opened its 41st store in Peachtree City, GA during the month of March. Speedemissions, founded in 2001, is based in Atlanta, GA. This new opening is the 14th in the greater Atlanta area. Rich Parlontieri, President and CEO was quoted in the article as saying: “We have had a presence in the City for almost 8 years and have worked hard to establish a neighborhood identity. Also, this is a continuation of our plans to grow in 2010 by an additional one to three stores.”

Atlanta is Speedemissions’ largest conglomeration of stores, but they also have locations in 3 other major markets of Houston, Texas; St. Louis, Missouri and Salt Lake City, Utah. The locations in Georgia and Missouri operate under the name “Speedemissions”, the Texas market as “mrEmission” and in Utah the business is called “Just Emissions”. Speedemissions, Inc.’s objective is to become the leading vehicle emissions (& safety inspection where applicable) testing company in those states where emissions testing is mandated by the 1970 Clean Air Act.

In major urban areas in 32 states and the District of Columbia, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a mandate that vehicles meet certain clean air standards by conducting vehicle emission tests. This mandate represents approximately 50% of the U.S. population. Speedemissions is one of very few companies that operate exclusively as vehicle emission testing/safety inspection corporations. No such companies operate on a nationwide level.

On March 30, 2010, Speedemissions released their 2009 year end results. This report was highlighted by increases in revenue of 1.4% to $9,916,678 and decrease in general and administrative expenses of 20.2% to $1,411,296 as compared to figures from the year ending December 31, 2008.
