Solar Wind Energy Tower, Inc. (SWET) Implements Strategic Design Methods to Reduce Costs and Financial Performance of Downdraft Tower

Solar Wind Energy Tower has designed, engineered, developed, and is now preparing to construct large “Solar Wind Downdraft Towers” that use non-toxic natural elements to generate electricity. Complementary to its focus on becoming a global provider of clean energy, the company reports that it has made the Downdraft Tower more cost effective by reducing expected capital costs and improving projected financial performance.

Solar Wind Energy used its recently announced software, which can calculate and predict the Tower’s energy production capability by plugging in local weather data, to determine the necessary height and diameter of the Tower, as well as how much water should be added as fuel to create a desired amount of energy. The company now has the ability to evaluate potential Tower sites and calculate the shape and size of the Tower to determine the amount of electricity that can be produced in any region.

By downsizing the Downdraft Tower’s height and shape, the structure can be built much more affordably using the latest formulations of industrial concrete. Using concrete vs. expensive steel has resulted in “dramatic savings” in both material costs and time spent for the actual construction of the Tower.

The first San Luis Tower, built under the latest design specifications, is expected to generate 600 megawatt hours, from which approximately 18.5 percent will be used to power its operations, yielding approximately 500 megawatt hours available for sale to the power grid. Taking into consideration a lower capacity during winter days, Solar Wind Energy says the average daily output for sale to the grid for the entire year is approximately 435 megawatt hours per day.
