Balqon Corp. has over a decade of engineering and production experience developing electric drive systems and various components for a variety of heavy-duty applications from busses to monorails, and is the only company with field-tested, Heavy-Duty Class 7-8 applications (in production at its manufacturing facility; 15.5k sq. ft., with a 700 unit annual output capacity).
In 2009, BLQN debuted its sophisticated new suite of lithium-ion (Li-Ion) powered heavy-duty electric trucks and tractors (30 ton on- and off-highway capable) while simultaneously migrating all heavy-duty electric vehicles (EVs) from lead-acid to Li-Ion batteries, effectively upgrading product lines like their already well-known Nautilus and Mule, which have modular drive systems that improve performance windows and efficiency across the board.
The Company is geared towards a zero-emission, heavy-duty EV portfolio: BLQN’s Mule M-150 for on-road cargo is a 2+ passenger cab with a 7 ton capacity and range of 150 miles unloaded, or 90 miles loaded, on a single charge; the Nautilus E-30, engineered primarily for on-road and terminal container transport (45km/hr, 30 ton, 60/30m range), utilizes the proprietary flux vector motor controllers (input frequency and voltage regulator systems that optimize motor speed and battery use); and the Nautilus E-20 Terminal Tractor for transport container handling in port/warehouse applications (60k lb. capacity, 40m range), featuring a fast-charge system that enables 30-45 min full charge capability.
