Sector 10, Inc. (SECT.OB) Founder Details Solutions for Gaps Found in Current Emergency Systems

The citizens of our nation never expected to witness terrorism on American soil. The Anthrax scare and tragedy on 9/11 brought with it a sense of vulnerability for everyday citizens that had never occurred before. Sector 10, Inc. is on a mission to put emergency supplies into the hands of ordinary people throughout the country. Pericles DeAvila, founder of Sector 10, has invested 10 years to analyze public safety systems and has written a book that details his findings.

From his research, DeAvila has found that most businesses have thought through disaster scenarios and have plans in place. But most of the plans answer the question, “how quickly can my business get back to normal operations with minimal loss?” Computer information is backed up and workflow is offset to other office locations. DeAvila explains in his book how companies create plans designed to keep their strongest and irreplaceable assets safe – their people.

Getting businesses to keep their employees safe is one thing, but what about staying safe in a public area? Millions of private citizens visit shopping malls and sports arenas throughout the year. Making sure you have some sunscreen seems to be the highest level of concern when out enjoying an afternoon in the sun watching a football, soccer, or baseball game. But what do people do when they are caught in these public places during some type of emergency situation?

In his book, DeAvila enlightens readers on how our current emergency system is structured along with how we can improve our buildings and citywide safety framework. Most people do not realize that we currently only have a ratio of one responder for every 1,000 survivors in a disaster. There is a tremendous gap in the ability of first responders to help all those caught in an emergency. Rather than wait for responders, DeAvila feels that life-saving tools should be pre-deployed at the scene so everyday citizens can protect themselves.

Sector 10 has developed a number of pre-deployed stationary response units (SRU) that can be placed in areas where large groups of people congregate. Stadiums, subways, airports, convention centers, office buildings, and schools are just examples of locations where the SRUs can be strategically placed. The SRUs can be stocked and configured based upon the typical people traffic pattern of any building.
