Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc. (PMUG.OB) Charges Forward with New CEO, Industry Veteran Peter D. Aquino

Primus Telecommunications Group, www.primustel.com – the total solution provider for voice, data and e-business to a global market via facilities-based networks/datacenters, reported today that effective yesterday, independent director Peter D. Aquino was named Chairman, President and CEO by the board of directors.

Board member of PMUG, Neil Subin, commended acting CEO John Spirtos, who will remain on the board, for his masterful work during the Company’s transition phase and noted that the board is still conducting a search for a new CFO.

Subin conveyed the board’s utmost satisfaction with the CEO choice, noting that “Pete Aquino is a senior and accomplished telecommunications industry executive with a clear record of achievement in turnarounds, in international and domestic operations, and in growing businesses that serve multiple customer types”.

Aquino is held in high regard by both Subin and the board, which have confidence that his leadership, vast industry expertise, and key insights into PMUG’s strategy will produce successful results.

Aquino highlighted the tremendous potential of PMUG’s business units and explained how growth in areas of brand and business model strength would be able to define the future of PMUG in bold terms, delivering outstanding value to shareholders and customers alike.

The 49-year old Aquino joined PMUG in July 2009; he serves on the boards of TiVo Inc. and the United Way of America, and has made a career out of reshaping and molding telecom service providers, most recently RCN Corp. which he led from bankruptcy to sale in 2010:

• President and CEO, RCN Corp. – high-speed/high-capacity digital video, data, voice provider which he joined in 2004, taking the company from bankruptcy through to the status of an all-digital HDTV cable, multiple system operator, with an advanced fiber-based commercial network

• Senior Managing Director of Communications Technology Advisors LLC – telecom and media restructuring

• COO one of the first Triple Play companies in Latin America – integrated cable TV/local exchange carriers throughout nine major Venezuelan cities

• Finance, marketing, regulatory and corporate development positions with Bell Atlantic (now Verizon)

• Graduated Montclair State College, NJ – MBA from George Washington University in Washington, DC
