PetroSun announced this morning that it has conducted its initial algae-to-biofuel program at Auburn and Opelika Alabama. The company’s subsidiary, AL-G-BAMA, assisted PetroSun in its demonstration to invited participants, including representatives from a Fortune 100 company and Icon Energy of Brisbane, Australia.
Gordon LeBlanc, Jr., CEO of PetroSun, stated, “The purpose of these meetings is to demonstrate to potential customers that algal oil is a commercially viable alternative feedstock for the biodiesel industry. The Company intends to hold a series of these programs during August and September with biodiesel refiners and firms that are researching the use of algal oil as a potential feedstock for jet fuel production.”
The company also announced that it will be filing a number of Provisional Applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to protect its algae cultivation system and algal oil extraction technologies.
