One would almost need to be hiding under a rock not to have heard that the US healthcare system is in a world of trouble. In fact, the US healthcare system has become such a mess that even larger corporations have recognized the urgent need for a solution if they are to maintain bottom lines. Ultimately, as this process moves forward, some private companies are going to need to stand up and provide the services to help the system succeed. Those companies that do stand up will be the ones that profit. All that needs to happen is for those companies to provide the services.
Patient Portal Inc., a healthcare process and payment improvement company, works to provide billing, care and efficiency systems to health care institutions. The company operates at three stages of patient healthcare: pre-admissions, patient care and post-stay services.
As the country’s demographic ages, there is an increasing need for efficient and strategic care services. Ultimately, an internally fit healthcare business structure enables better patient care and institutional profitability. Patient Portal works to provide services and products for both aspects of the healthcare experience. Company software products aid the flow of information so patients can be connected more efficiently with the correct healthcare department, while a similar system provides access to patient records for the relevant healthcare providers.
Inpatient care takes many forms, from bedside needs to patient comfort. To aid the patient, the company installs digital systems, such as cable television and digital education systems, while other software systems ensure administrative-level patient care. Post-institutional care has been shown to accelerate and enhance a patient’s recovery, and Patient Portal provides services and systems to speed post-stay recovery.
The company’s introduction of a new services platform has been credited for an increase in second quarter margins of 25.5%. Increases were largely seen in the pre- and post-care sections of the company’s business. The recent announcement of an award, by Orlean General (a leading New York provider), to the company’s subsidiary TB&A Television Services, will also help boost margins in coming years. The 6-ear contract to provide educational, television and entertainment digital services should also be a superb jumping-off point should the company decide to follow a more aggressive national campaign.
As the population of the US continues to age, with boomlets being seen for the foreseeable future, Patient Portal does appear to be staking a solid claim to providing badly needed structural systems to an overcrowded healthcare market. In providing these efficiencies, profit for Patient Portal cannot be far behind.
