Nortel (NRTLQ.OB) Leads Global Carrier Softswitch Market According to Dell’Oro Group and Infonetics Research

Nortel, a recognized leader in delivering communications capabilities, recently announced that Dell’Oro Group and Infonetics Research continue to rank the company as the worldwide leader with the largest revenues in the carrier softswitch market for the first quarter of 2009. Nortel’s next-generation technologies that support multimedia and business-critical applications dominate the North American softswitch market with 59 percent share and in EMEA with 29 percent share.

According to Dell’Oro Group, Nortel has ranked #1 worldwide based on softswitch revenue for the past seven years. In fact, Nortel maintained its global leadership position for softswitches with 20.3 percent global market share. In Infonetics Research’s most recent report, Nortel maintained its worldwide revenue leadership position in softswitches and is the global leader in VoIP overall.

Samih Elhage, president of carrier VoIP and application solutions at Nortel, stated, “Nortel’s track record and operational experience in delivering VoIP is unparalleled, as underscored by these two industry reports.” He continued, “Nortel has grabbed nearly 60 percent of North American market share – that’s roughly three times more than our closest competition.” Mr. Elhage concluded, “We continue to win important new customers globally, and we are investing in cutting edge innovation that will help our customers speed delivery of new revenue generating voice and multimedia applications to their subscribers.”
