Nortel Networks Corp. (NRTLQ.PK) to Demonstrate New Solutions for Cable Operators at Upcoming 2010 Cable Show in LA

Nortel’s Carrier VoIP and Application Solutions (CVAS) will present the same innovative cable solutions, which have made Nortel CVAS the “Carrier VoIP king” for 8 years running, at booth #711, May 11-13, at the 2010 Cable Show to be hosted by the National Cable & Telecommunication Association (NCTA) at the LA Convention Center, CA.

As the #1 provider the world over of Carrier VoIP and Softswitch solutions since 02, Nortel CVAS has been chosen by 80% of the top 20 carriers listed by International Data Corporation (IDC), and shipped over 123M Carrier VoIP and Multimedia ports – of which 11M are SIP lines which support wireless and wireline carriers around the world. The Company’s cable solutions have been used by over 35 of the world’s leading Cable Multi-System Operators (MSOs).

President of CVAS, Nortel, Samih Elhage, noted that the leadership role the Company enjoys is due to constant efforts to produce innovative VoIP, multimedia and mobility solutions to a global market, and pointed out that many of these innovative products would be showcased at the upcoming 2010 Cable Show in an effort to demonstrate new ways in which the Company offers cable providers advanced, “converged communication services and multimedia content”, which they can deliver to their customers.

The 2010 Cable Show will, as usual, be a perfect opportunity for the Company to proudly exhibit its latest products, which offer cable operators unprecedented capacity for serving their customers rich multimedia content and advanced VoIP, as well as mobility, communication, and collaboration services, among which will be:

• Hosted IP Communication Solutions suitable for any operation, from a small business to a large enterprise, which allow MSOs to offer Unified Communications (UC), Call Center and Mobile applications to their customers; the Company will demo its new UC collaboration application for real-time sharing of video, documents and web pages which features a persistent shared whiteboard; an advanced fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) app which can transform and cell phone into an office extension; as well as many others, including a new IVR click-to-call solution.

• IP Consumer Voice, Multimedia & Mobility Solutions which enable MSOs to push out traditional competitors like Telcos thanks to their ability to offer users a variety of rich IP applications; The Company will show a live cable VoIP demo of soft clients using PC’s, cell phones and iPads™; also on display will be FMC apps and Web Services which allow users to connect from any device or location, including TV’s and mobile phones.

• Advanced Softswitching Platform and Services designed to enhance MSO efficiency via user-deployed advanced IP communications; the Company will display the very latest improvements made to its industry-leading CS 2000 Softswitch, featuring geo-redundancy, increased energy efficiency and capacity, and features which enable better performance during peak calling times, and the ability to support call densities up to 5M Busy Hour Call Attempts (BHCA); in addition the Company will be demonstrating implementation methodologies for cable operators who seek to utilize Nortel CVAS solutions to improve network manageability and optimize network performance.

• IP Multimedia Interconnect and Trunking Solutions which enable Inter- and Intra-Carrier IP Interconnect (IPX) while reducing “churn” via a set of bundled apps which extend global reach; the Company will give a solution walkthrough and show carriers the solutions they can offer other carriers or their subscribers through this new IPX provider capacity.
