According to the most recent data available from the U.S. Census Bureau, 47 million Americans (about 15.8% of the total population) had no health insurance coverage at some point during 2006. Most uninsured Americans are working-class persons whose employers do not provide health insurance, and who earn too much money to qualify for one of the local or state insurance programs for the poor, but do not earn enough to cover the cost of enrollment in a health insurance plan designed for individuals.

The company has also enhanced its CARExpress programs by increasing the number of participating pharmacies accessible to CARExpress members from approximately 45,000 pharmacies to approximately 48,000 pharmacies, making greater discounts available to the company’s CARExpress members when they purchase in-store and mail-order prescriptions.
National Health is hoping with these new enhancements more uninsured and underinsured Americans will take advantage of their program. David M. Daniels, President and Chief Executive Officer stated, “We are always looking for opportunities to improve the benefits available to our CARExpress members. The addition of these online healthcare benefits together with a more comprehensive network of pharmacies offering greater discounts to our members represents a tremendous enhancement to our CARExpress Network. The additions also provide an even more compelling reason for people to join CARExpress and remain a member for a long period of time.”
