My Healthy Access and NuPhysicia LLC have signed a joint operating agreement to operate Telemedicine clinics in select Houston-area Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) Supercenters. The two companies have agreed to operate under the trade name “Walk-In Telemedicine Health Care,” which will help patients differentiate between the physician-directed services provided in the company’s clinics and the nurse-based services provided by most other retail clinic operators.
NuPhysicia LLC is a private medical services company that offers the telemedicine program as one of its lines of services, and has successfully operated the longest and largest telemedicine program in the world at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. This agreement will combine NuPhysicia’s service with clinics operated by My Healthy Access to provide convenient access to physician-directed medical care.
The agreement falls right in line with My Healthy Access’ mission to continually provide the highest-quality access to health care available, and will allow physicians to serve patients using proven remote telemedicine through paramedics who will welcome and examine patients under direct supervision of a physician.
My Healthy Access, Inc.’s President, Kathleen Delaney, stated, “In keeping with our mission to continually search for the best approaches to retail healthcare, we began evaluating proven telemedicine methods, and this led us to NuPhysicia. Our partnership with NuPhysicia will no doubt enhance services in our retail clinics to better serve our patients and offer us even greater potential for new business strategies in the future.”
Glenn G. Hammack, president of NuPhysicia commented, “Our alliance takes that care a step further, bringing new levels of service, convenience and value to the retail health-care setting through interactive physician visits.”
He continued, “Whether it’s a program like this with My Healthy Access, Inc., or one created for a clinic within a corporate setting, we know the system enhances the health of its clients, increases productivity and improves the bottom line. We know this because we’ve witnessed it personally for more than a decade in our work at UTMB.”
