The world of the startup is one of pressure, creativity and support. A new product or entity cannot find its feet without a bit of each. Having a support and commercial system behind the initial concept, new company or product is exceedingly helpful. But for those investors that can see a product starting to find its feet before the stewarding incubator lets it go, profit can be found.
MicroChannel Technology Corp., a development stage optic nerve research company, is working to commercialize basic research regarding the regeneration of the optic nerve. The company (and, in a certain form, its technology) arises from its “incubator” stage incarnation as a wholly owned subsidiary of Octillion Corp.
In past posts, there has been talk of Octillion Corporation’s unique approach to seeding start-up companies. The company’s activities are unique in that Octillion uses institutions’ plant facilities to encourage new and potentially rewarding product opportunities. It then uses as yet unused companies (shells) to bring the product and a company to life – as it were. Although incubator start-ups are not entirely new concepts, Octillion appears to have found a recipe that works.
There may be other advantages/disadvantages as new companies learn to walk. For example, successes appear to be achieved as the company gives researchers greater autonomy in their research and commercialization endeavors. But at the start most seem to do well. MicroChannel Technology Corp. is one such project that appears to be making great strides as it ventures out into the optic nerve marketplace.
Although one might not perceive the optic nerve market potential as a large one, it is nonetheless a solid market in many ways. Research has progressed in most areas of the eye to make procedures appear “run of the mill” in nature. Most procedures are now outpatient and very lucrative. There is, however, quite a bit of research left to do, now that the basics have been covered. Lasik surgery was a gee-wiz sort of procedure just a few short years ago. The next awe-inspiring procedure should not be that far behind. MicroChannel Technology Corp. has always been on the leading edge with Octillion Inc and is ready to capitalize. The future appears bright for MicroChannel Technology Corp. as it now begins its walk out the door.
