Mega Media Group, Inc. (MMDA.OB) Finds Tremendous Success with Pulse 87 FM

Mega Media Group, Inc. (MMDA.OB) is a multimedia entertainment holding company that offers a variety of services. Mega’s subsidiaries offer: music recording, production, and distribution; video production; and radio broadcasting. The company is currently best known for its New York radio station, Pulse 87 FM (WNYZ-LP).

Since Mega launched Pulse 87 in February of this year, it has become one of New York’s hottest radio stations. The station concentrates on playing top 40 hits, the latest pop songs, and exclusive remixes. With limited commercial interruptions, Pulse 87 has drawn the attention of top DJs from around the world who feel the station’s format is a good fit for their original and extensive dance mixes.

Upon the launch in February, one of the highest-rated shows in New York radio history – “The Star & Buc Wild Morning Show” – has made Pulse 87 its home. Star and Buc Wild are national radio personalities who, in 2000, were the first to beat the Howard Stern Show for top ranking in New York. In 2004, the pair launched Power 105 where they topped their previous ratings. With the popularity of the pair, at one time the show generated over $12 million in annual advertising revenue.

Pulse 87 has also implemented a line of well-known DJ’s and producers in its weekly programming to keep the music flowing:
DJ Serg – “Nooner at Noon” – Noon every weekday
DJ James Anthony – “Free Ride @ 5″ – 5PM every weekday
Johnny Budz – “B.P.M. @ 8PM” – 8PM every weeknight
DJ Yonny – “Friday Night Fix” – 10PM every Friday
Mike Rizzo – “Area 51″ – midnight every Friday
DJ Boris / Glenn Friscia – “Up All Night” – 2AM every Friday night
Glenn Friscia – “Pulse 87 Saturday Night Dance Party” – 10PM every Saturday night
Jonathan Peters – “Up All Night” – 2AM every Saturday night

Pulse 87 doesn’t just concentrate on what the in-station crew produces. To add dimension and a local flavor, the station is divided into three categories – news, talk radio, and music programming. The news programming includes segments on lifestyle, headlines, and entertainment. The talk show programming pulls a variety of guests from celebrities to politicians. Additionally, Mega has a portable studio and road crew that is out in the New York City streets interacting with listeners and producing live segments at local hotspots. Incorporating these segments keeps the station in tune with local interests and listeners.

Another way that the station stays on the pulse of the city is through its website, www.Pulse87.com. Listeners can log onto their computers to get the latest celebrity gossip, breaking news, a list of upcoming local events, participate in contests, request a song in the rotation, and stream live. For those looking for a partner, there is an online singles link where listeners can meet and chat. Additionally, the site even allows users to download new ringtones and download music, as Mega has agreements with iTunes, Masterbeat, and Beatport.

The station has designed an infrastructure that allows it to stay in touch with its target audience of 18- to 49-year-olds. And we all know that marketing dollars are spent where consumers gravitate. With its ever-growing popularity, advertisers are knocking on the door of Pulse 87. The station now has marketing agreements with several major brands, including Jive Records, Ultra Records, NY Minute Group, Sobe Life Water Brand, Paragon Honda, and Major Auto World, as well as other local advertisers.

Mega has made the most of its time since the launch of Pulse 87. It has built a solid foundation and has kept in touch with its audience. The positive word on the street continues to bring more listeners to the station each week. It looks like the people of New York and surrounding communities are gravitating towards the full-time dance format at Pulse 87.
