Manufacturing Sector Reports Slowed Production

October brought trouble for many manufacturing companies, as new orders and production levels fell to a twenty-six-year low. The Institute for Supply Management released figures on Monday, showing a manufacturing index value of just 38.9, its lowest point since September of 1982. Lending further creedence to the notion that we are in fact in the midst of a recession, unemployment rates are hovering at or near five-year lows.
