Lumera Corporation (LMRA) Announces Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Contract

Lumera Corporation, a leader in photonic communications that designs electro-optic components based on proprietary polymer compounds for the telecommunications and computing industries, announced March 24th that it has been awarded the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency 9DARPA) phase I Small Business Innovation Research contract for $98,933 to design and fabricate polymer devices. Lumera may receive a subsequent contract in the rand of $750,000 if certain milestones are completed.

Dr. Raluca Dinu, VP, Electro-Optic Business Unit said, “It is gratifying to see, by this contract award, DARPA’s confidence in our capabilities to develop superior electro-optic polymer materials. The final goal and end product of the contract will be to economically produce high bandwidth, small chip, stable, low voltage, low cost, ultra linear high EO coefficient polymer directional coupler modulators. We are up to the task and look forward to reaching that objective.”

Plexera (Lumera’s subsidiary) focuses on providing the life sciences market with tools, content, and methods to simplify and accelerate proteomic discovery for therapeutic antibodies as well as predictive biomarkers. Through its subsidiary, Plexera Bioscience LLC, the Company is also in the bioscience industry.
