Location Based Technologies, Inc. (LBAS) Versatile Tracking Device Receives AT&T Network Certification

Location Based Technologies, the maker of dedicated GPS products and services sold under the PocketFinder and LBT brands, reports that its 3G LBT-886 product has passed the network testing performed by AT&T’s Lab, the final step in a series of tests that included FCC, IC, and PTCRB.

The LBT-886 is a rugged, versatile device that can either be used as a vehicle product or as a stand-alone device for asset tracking, which is powered by its own internal battery. As a free-standing device, the 886 can last for up to four months on a single charge.

Upon completion of the most recent testing, the LBT-886 has fulfilled all government and network requirements and is available for sale to the public in the United States and Canada. The company notes that Australia, Japan, and Hong Kong markets also require 3G devices.

LBAS says a 3G version of the LBT-886 creates opportunities to sell through AT&T’s retail sales stores as a vehicle tracking device.

“It’s taken us almost a year to receive all of the necessary certifications,” LBT CEO Dave Morse stated in the press release. “Now that the 886 has passed all tests, we can focus on selling the device to the consumer and commercial markets in the U.S. and Canada. Ideally, we would like AT&T stores to sell our 886 vehicle device this holiday season.”
