At the same time, low vaccine coverage and low testing rates in other countries are creating the ideal conditions for new variants to emerge.”
The “Fortune” article noted the consensus among experts that new COVID variants will soon emerge that may or may not be more virulent; the delta and omicron variants are examples of variants that have already been identified. “The WHO has warned the next COVID variant will be more infectious than omicron, and it may be more deadly,” the article states.
