Today, anti-counterfeiting, anti-theft and authentication solutions provider, Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. announced that Judy Murrah has joined the company as its Chief Information Officer. Ms. Murrah will be responsible for APDN’s information technology strategy and implementation, including operations support, customer-facing applications, and development of the company’s underlying technology infrastructure. She will report to Dr. James A. Hayward, APDN’s CEO and President.
Dr. Hayward remarked, “Our company is committed to excellence in service and technology for our customers. Judy shares that commitment like no one else we have met. We are thrilled to have her on our team and bring her incredible experience and range of skills to Applied DNA and our customers.”
Ms. Murrah added, “I am pleased to join a team so committed to addressing a problem of global proportion. Eliminating counterfeits will save lives. The impact of the counterfeit economy is enormous, estimated by some to be approaching $1.4 trillion annually. The technology is elegant and proven. Combining biotechnology with information technology offers breakthroughs for security and law enforcement.”
Ms. Murrah comes to APDN from Motorola Solutions, where she was was Senior Director of Information Technology, overseeing financial operations, quality assurance, and IT governance of thousands of resources. She also worked at Symbol, which was acquired by Motorola Solutions while she was there. At Symbol, she established and led the IT Portfolio and Project Management Office and oversaw the company’s first cross-functional business Portfolio Review Board for governing investment spend and programs.
Ms. Murrah was named to 2005/2006 Top 50 Women of Long Island and received the 2013 Diamond Award for Women Leaders in Technology. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Industrial Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. She is the author of eleven U.S. patents.
